What is House of Arts?

House of Arts is a sustainable alternative to the classic mass-produced museum souvenir.

The philosophy and practice of House of Arts are based on three fundamental principles:

THE IDEA – to promote and spread art history through applied arts, creating design objects that depict details of artworks. House of Arts sells online and in selected shops, and also works with museums and companies to produce exclusive merchandise.

SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION – every House of Arts product is handcrafted using ancient artistic techniques and contemporary digital processes, operating sustainably and choosing certified materials with the goal of creating design products of not only aesthetic but also ethical and symbolic value.

The #SHARINGCULTURE message – every item depicts a detail of art history and tells its story through packaging designed to inform: you will always find details and curiosities about the artist and the depicted artwork, to discover something new and contribute to the #sharingculture philosophy by sharing it with others!

Who is House of Arts?

House of Arts is an independent cultural entrepreneurial project created by Martina Scardigli, born in 1990.

An Art Master graduate from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ravenna in Visual Arts and Mosaic, after three years in Turkey as a mosaicist, she returned to Italy and settled in Padua, where she collaborated with the city’s Civic Museums as a museum educator and worked as an artisan in a small printmaking workshop in the city centre.

Always drawn to applied arts and interested in art that actively participates in the contemporary world, she unified multiple goals through the House of Arts project:

  • spreading Art History through the languages of Applied Arts;
  • creating a culture-focused entrepreneurial project that operates ethically and with respect for the environment;
  • going beyond the concept of Art for Art’s sake and giving new, more relevant meaning to artistic production, focused on outreach and the diversity of ancient and contemporary artistic techniques.
